One of the primary missions of the American Legion is to make sure that our veterans and their families receive the support and recognition they deserve.
Every member of our organization is a wartime veteran. We know how important it is to receive the support of our fellow citizens during and after our military service.
We have Sons of the American Legion for male descendants, and the Auxiliary for spouses (husbands, too!) and female descendants, who also provide support for veterans and our local community.
We are also dedicated to a vast array of local community service projects, such as sponsoring students to attend Boys and Girls State, Junior Law Cadets, Scholarships, and school supply donations, just to name a few.
Recognition of one of our own.
Post 287 Family, it is my honor to congratulate Terry Beasley for being recognized as the Distinguished Legionnaire of the Year. Terry was selected from numerous outstanding submissions from around the State of Missouri. His history of selfless service to the Post, Riders, SAL, 40&8, Auxiliary and community set him above the other applicants. Terry's efforts and contributions have always been appreciated and now he is recognized for them. Please congratulate him when you see him.
Breakfast is served on the 2nd Saturday of each month, 7-10 AM. Dine in, curbside pickup, and deliveries (in Savannah) available. Call 816-273-2421 to schedule a delivery. Donation of $10 for adults, $5 for children.
For God and Country we associate ourselves together for the following purposes: To uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America; To maintain law and order; To Foster and perpetuate a one hundred percent Americanism; To preserve the memories and incidents of our associations in all wars; To inculcate a sense of individual obligation to the community, state and nation; To combat the autocracy of both the classes and the masses; To make right the master of might; To promote peace and goodwill on earth; To safeguard and transmit to posterity the principles of justice, freedom and democracy; To consecrate and sanctify our comradeship by our devotion to mutual helpfulness.
