Founded in 1919, the American Legion Auxiliary has nearly 1 million members from all walks of life. The Auxiliary for Post 287 began being planned on March 15, 1921.

Since then, we have been busy supporting Legion functions, as well as provided community services, including:

  • ALA Girls State
  • Americanism. As part of this, we partner with Andrew County during Government day, where students are taught the processes of local government.
  • Scholarships
  • School Supplies.  Each year we gather school supplies to help rural schools in our area.
  • Poppy. We partner with local businesses to distribute Poppies annually (normally Memorial Day).  All donations go directly to assist disabled and hospitalized veterans in our community.
  • Christmas: Each Christmas we partner with local nursing homes to ensure all veteran patients receive Christmas gifts.
